Inspiration and Materials
Inspired by years of living in Joshua tree, CA, and the surrounding communities, I've spent countless hours hiking in Joshua Tree National Park studying and photographing Joshua Trees. I've painted and sold fine art landscapes, as well as many commissioned Joshua Tree murals.
Always eager to learn and grow as an artist, I became interested in sculpture, and wondered if it was possible to sculpt a Joshua Tree. After experimenting with several different materials, even purchasing a kiln to fire clay, I found that none of the materials I tried satisfied my needs.
My world literally changed when I discovered Aves Apoxie Sculpt. Starting with simple wall sculptures that gradually got larger, more complex and detailed, I eventually felt confident to tackle full, stand alone Joshua Trees.
I once read an article about the creator of Apoxie Sculpt, David Brummel, in which he was quoted as saying, "I want to help people reach the peak of their craft" and that's exactly what he has done for me, and I'm so grateful! I now create gallery-quality sculptures that are structurally strong and lasting, and get the incredible details that my subject matter deserves. There's no where else on earth like the Joshua Tree National Park. I want visitors from around the world to be able to take a part of their experience home, hence the name, Joshua Tree Forever Sculptures.
