One day while hiking in The Joshua Tree National Park
the question hit me... Can I sculpt a Joshua Tree?
Well, it took a few years of experimenting,
but I think I'm getting there.
This JOSHUA TREE FOREVER sculpture recently won first place in mixed media at the California Welcome Center, Yucca Valley, CA. The contest was open to any resident statewide.
Some of my sculptures are now available for purchase at the welcome center.

Here's a video of some of my JOSHUA TREE FOREVER sculptures and the creative process.
Inspired by years of living in Joshua tree, CA, and the surrounding communities, and countless hours hiking in the Joshua Tree National Park, I've spent countless hours studying and photographing Joshua Trees. I've painted and sold fine art landscapes, as well as commissioned Joshua Tree murals.
Always eager to learn and grow as an artist, I became interested in sculpture, and wondered if it was possible to sculpt a Joshua Tree. After experimenting with several different materials, even purchasing a kiln to fire clay, I found that none of the materials I tried satisfied my needs.
My world literally changed when I discovered Aves Apoxie Sculpt. It definitely took time to become proficient with the material. Every medium has it's own special characteristics. It's necessary to develop a good working relationship. You have to get to know it really well, know it's sweet spots, and just how far you can push it, while understanding you can't force it.
Starting with simple wall sculptures that gradually got larger, more complex and detailed, I eventually felt confident to tackle full, stand alone Joshua Trees. My next goal is adding desert wildlife to my sculptures.
I once read an article about the creator of Apoxie Sculpt, David Brummel, in which he was quoted as saying, "I want to help people reach the peak of their craft" and that's exactly what he has done for me, and I'm so grateful! I now create gallery-quality sculptures that are structurally strong and lasting, and get the incredible details that my subject matter deserves. There's no where else on earth like the Joshua Tree National Park. I want visitors from around the world to be able to take a part of their experience home, hence the name, Joshua Tree Forever Sculptures.
